Women Empowerment

This organization has a number of programs to empower young girls to participate more in their communities, one of them being the Adolescent Girls Training Program. This program includes both girls and boys and focuses on building young girls’ aptitudes for individual empowerment and social survival. WISE empowerment trainings confront gender inequality to help young girls to advocate for themselves and to build their self-esteem. This organization allows girls to feel empowered and not as if the world is run solely by boys and men. This program provides girls with critical thinking skills and gives them the tools to deal with unfair realities in their daily lives while revealing to the boys the forms of unfair acts that disempower girls. By doing so, this initiative is forging the next generation of confident women and supportive men who will someday become leaders in their country. WISE addresses areas of education that are missing from young girls’ everyday lives and schooling. A couple of the areas that this organization covers are self-esteem and body image, violence against women and children, children’s rights and leadership skills. This program provides girls with the tools to be a leader within their school and their community as a whole.

The home based schooling; Supporting education for young mothers
A program provides education for young mothers who have dropped out of school due to pregnancy. Classes are conducted at an identified home in the community selected by the beneficiaries where they all gather and teachers are employed by the organisation to conduct half a day classes there. This is so because its hard for them to get intergated in the normal schooling system with the family responsibilities. In the third term of their final year the girls are then attached to a registred school to be able to sit for their exams. This program targets young mothers who dropped out of school due to unplanned pregnancies.

Community library

WISE mobilises communities to establish a community library which is accessed by students studying and living in rural areas. The library has subject books and computers connected to internet. You can be part of this drive of increasing access to education by equipping the community library through donating learning aides like books, computers, children tablets and participating in our book week where young children come together and stories are read to them by volunteers.
